The Resource Development Committee is tasked with developing a strategy and implementing it to provide extraordinary financial support to the West Vancouver Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena. This funding, in addition to user fee revenue and municipal support will allow for further enhancement of the facilities and development of new and existing programs, all delivered as a result of work done by the community for the community.
The design and implementation of the WVCCS’s Resource Development Plan is based on the values of the Society (Community, Innovation, Learning, Partnership, Inclusiveness, Responsibility & Trust, Integration, and Care & Respect) and incorporates the needs of the community. In concert with community input through the Society’s Community Engagement and Outreach Committee, the Resource Development Committee identifies and prioritizes needs then set to work raising the funds to support those needs.
The Society’s current campaign, Build Community, Buy a Brick, is designed to emphasize the role of individuals and their impacts on the community. The campaign has already raised over $90,000 in support of programs and equipment at the West Vancouver Community Centre, Aquatic Centre and Ice Arena.
“Resource Development, including fundraising, is about building relationships; when the community fully understands the goals of the WVCCS and its ability to contribute to the strength of the Community Centre and its programs, we are confident that individuals and families will also contribute financially to our initiatives." (Susan Evans, Past Chair, Resource Development Committee)
The West Vancouver Community Centre is operated under an innovative community governance partnership between the District of West Vancouver and the West Vancouver Community Centres Society, a registered charitable Society.
